Subject: Robert Downey, Jr.
Charges: In 1996, Downey was busted for drunk driving and possession of heroin, crack, cocaine, and an unloaded .357 magnum revolver. He was again arrested in November 2000 and April 2001 for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Date: The first mugshot was taken on August 1999 while serving time on a drug conviction. The second was in April 2001.
Verdict: For the 1996 incident, the busted celebrity was sentenced to three years probation for weapon and drug charges. However, just over a year later in December 1997, Downey was sentenced to six months in jail for violating parole. And after 18 months, in July 1999, he returned to Corcoran State Prison to serve a three-year sentence for another violation.
In August 1999, a California state appellate court ordered Downey's release from his term in state prison due to a sentencing error made by his trial judge. An appeals court panel ordered his immediate release. And as for the his other arrests, he was not charged for the judge had determined that the actor had been drug free for 14 months.
